Bearson works with your VA representative to submit necessary documentation, quotes, and specifications.
VA Reviews & Approves
The VA reviews your case. When approved, they fund the entire stairlift cost through their contract with Bruno.
Professional Installation
We professionally install your Bruno stairlift, handle all permits, coordinate inspections, and train you on operation.
Ongoing Support
We're here for service, maintenance, and support for the life of your stairlift.

VA HISA Grant: Fund Your Home Modifications
The Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA) benefit helps veterans make medically necessary modifications to their homes—whether you own or rent.
Up to $6,800 Benefit
You qualify if you have:
- • Service-connected disability, OR
- • Compensable disability treated as service-connected, OR
- • Non-service-connected disability AND service-connected disability rated 50%+
Up to $2,000 Benefit
You qualify if you have:
- • Other qualifying disabilities not covered by $6,800 tier

SAH & SHA Grants: Major Home Accessibility Funding
For veterans with severe service-connected disabilities, these grants provide substantial funding for major home modifications or new adapted housing.
Specially Adapted Housing (SAH)
Up to $121,812
FY 2025
Who Qualifies:
Veterans with service-connected:
- • Loss or loss of use of both lower extremities
- • Blindness in both eyes (5/200 visual acuity or less)
- • Loss or loss of use of one lower extremity with residuals of organic disease
- • Severe burn injuries
Can be used up to 6 times (lifetime maximum total)
Special Home Adaptation (SHA)
Up to $24,405
FY 2025
Who Qualifies:
Veterans with service-connected:
- • Blindness in both eyes (20/200 visual acuity or less)
- • Loss or loss of use of both hands
- • Certain severe burn injuries
- • Certain respiratory injuries requiring equipment
Temporary Residence Adaptation (TRA):
If you're eligible for SAH or SHA but need temporary housing modifications: Up to $49,062 available. Can be used while waiting for permanent housing. Separate from your main SAH/SHA benefit.
